Harvest Jug with Wheat, Swifts, Moon and Sun - Reduction-fired
Traditional jug, decorated with my hand-cut stencils.
This piece is fired in a gas kiln, in a reduction atmosphere. By controlling the amount of oxygen the kiln receives, unique and highly varied results can be achieved, resulting in distinctive colours and textures and speckles.
This particular piece has some pink flashing as a result of an adjacent piece glaze in a copper carbonate glaze. An effect only achieved in a reduction atmosphere.
Perfect as a table centrepiece for water, cider, wine or something else delicious. Equally beautiful as a vase, holding a bouquet of flowers.
The glazes used are made from scratch with raw ingredients that I carefully, weigh, mix and sieve by hand.
Dishwasher and microwave safe. Hand wash recommended.
