Medium Dog Silhouette Mug III - Reduction Fired with Pink Blush
Medium mug, made in a toasty clay. Finished with a handmade stencil dog in a contrasting iron-rich clay on the front and back. Finally glazed in a translucent glaze and stoneware fired.
This piece is fired in a gas kiln, in a reduction atmosphere. By controlling the amount of oxygen the kiln receives, unique and highly varied results can be achieved, resulting in distinctive colours and textures and speckles.
This particular piece has some pink flashing as a result of an adjacent piece glaze in a copper carbonate glaze. An effect only achieved in a reduction atmosphere.
The hand-pulled handle has been trialed and tweaked over time to be comfortable to hold. Perfect for medium cups of tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
